Area rugs have always served as home decor pieces and along the days of civilization. Some forms of animal skin rugs, such as coarsely woven carpets and rugs were the first forms of soil in history. The carpet was considered a treasure among many families during the ancient times.
The oldest of all carpets, which was called the "carpet Pazyrk," was found in 1949 during an archaeological dig in the Siberian region. Due frozen nature of the carpet color and design of the carpet was well preserved for thousands of years. It goes back to 5th century BC, the carpet was Pazyryk regarded as a Scythian art advanced work, which is richly detailed, perfectly shaped patterns, vibrant colors, and uses a hand knotted technique is still practiced today.
Before this discovery of this carpet Pazyryk, the oldest known carpet was the king of Persia, the famous carpet, a huge carpet silk, wool, gold, silver and precious stones and created from hand knotted technique. Its origin dates back to around 550 BC, and measured 400 'by 100', weighing several thousand pounds. The king is said to often walked the seemingly endless, beautifully bejeweled carpet during the winter months to enjoy its many wonderful scenes of spring. These scenes were the flowers in full bloom, birds in flight, ripe fruits, and there was a large "green field" border that is thought to be nothing but pure emeralds.
