My Red Persian cat is peeing on rugs and carpets. How can I get it to stop?
I can not seem to get always pee in the litter box. I try to keep it clean of all time. I recently moved in with my new wife who has 2 cats, but he has done this for a couple of years living with only I am in a house.
Ever tried a cat urinary infection? I know from my cats, and cats I've seen in the clinic, that cats are urinate in areas other than the litter box when they have a urinary tract infection. They think, 'Well, it hurts when I pee in the litter box, so I'll try to urinate on the carpet here and see if that does it better "and then, if not move to another place. It is not uncommon for cats to do this. If that is not the problem, you may just have to retrain the cat again to start using the litter box. I did it with one of my cats. I have a big box and stayed there when I was not here to see it. Every time I go in his litter box – which was inside the box – I would give him some candy and lots of praise. The vet I work with this recommened and after a bout a week I was using the litter box much, much better.
